Afghanistan Today has published on its home page a picture I took during the vigil for Malala Yousafzai in Birmingham. The story they are featuring – about the inspiration she has given to girls and women – is part of a series about Afghanistan and Pakistan cross-border issues. I was approached by Nick Allen, chief editor of this NGO media project, to collaborate with the photo (
unfortunately, it’s not credited credit is under first pic in body of story now).
(Click on the photo above or here to see a high resolution screenshot of the home page on 11/05/2013)
On their Twitter account, they introduce themselves: “Afghanistan Today presents journalism made in Afghanistan by local journalists. Afghanistan Today covers the other story”. Although I have never been to that part of the world, the work done by this media project seems essential to raise important current questions of the issues on this nation.
